What Good Landscaping Has to Do in Pearland
Move Water Off Flat Clay Lots
Pearland sits on flat Gulf Coast clay, and Clear Creek and its smaller creeks drain slowly. Grading and drainage have to be right or water pools by the slab. We plan slope and runoff first.
Survive Gumbo Soil That Swells and Shrinks
The local clay, often called gumbo, swells when wet and pulls back when dry. That movement is hard on beds, walls, and concrete. We prep and amend soil to match it.
Hold Up to Heat, Humidity, and Storms
Long, humid summers and heavy Gulf rain wear out thin work fast. We pick plants, turf, and materials that take Pearland weather year after year.
Meet HOA and City of Pearland Rules
Many Pearland yards sit inside an HOA or near a drainage easement. We build to fit those rules and keep structures out of recorded easements.
Suit New Yards and Older Yards Alike
A blank lot in a new west Pearland subdivision needs a full plan. An older lot near Old Townsite needs careful updates. We size the work to the property.
Professional Landscaping & Hardscaping in Pearland, TX
Pearland has grown fast, with the population climbing well past 125,000 as families filled in subdivisions on both sides of SH-288. That growth left a lot of yards that were graded for the house and never finished for the people living there. We start by walking your lot and checking soil, slope, drainage, and sun. Then we build a plan that fits how your family uses the space, whether that is a new Shadow Creek Ranch backyard or an established lot east of 288 in Pearland ISD. Every Pearland landscaping project gets the same on-site, build-it-once approach.
Who We Serve in Pearland, TX
We work with Pearland homeowners, business owners, and property managers across the city, from older neighborhoods near Old Townsite to newer master-planned areas west of SH-288. Each yard gets a plan built for its own soil, slope, and use.
Here are the Pearland clients and properties we serve:
- Residential Homes: Full yard design and build for single-family lots, new and established.
- Master-Planned & HOA Communities: Yards that meet design rules in places like Shadow Creek Ranch.
- Apartment & Multifamily: Grounds and common areas that stay sharp through Gulf Coast seasons.

Top Landscaping & Hardscaping Services in Pearland, TX
Yard Drainage & French Drains in Pearland
On flat clay lots near Clear Creek, Mary's Creek, and Cowart Creek, standing water is a real problem. We install French drains, channel drains, and proper grading to carry water away from your foundation and beds. This is often the first fix a Pearland yard needs.
Sod Installation for Pearland Lawns
New construction and re-grades leave a lot of bare dirt in Pearland. We lay St. Augustine sod, usually Raleigh for sunny front yards and Palmetto where trees throw shade. We prep the clay base first so the new lawn roots in instead of sitting on top.
Landscape Design for Pearland Properties
Many west Pearland lots start as a blank slab of grass. We build a full landscape design with plant beds, trees, hardscape, and drainage that fits your soil and sun. The plan ties the whole yard together and works with HOA design rules where they apply.
Plant Beds & Garden Design in Pearland
We install plant beds with amended soil, edging, and irrigation lines so they hold up in clay. We lean on tough Gulf Coast plants like lantana, salvia, and dwarf hollies that take the heat and humidity. The beds frame the home and stay low maintenance.
Patios & Outdoor Living in Pearland
Outdoor living is a big draw in Pearland's newer backyards. We build paver, stamped concrete, and natural stone patios sized to your lot, set on a compacted base so they do not heave on gumbo soil. It gives you a solid place to gather year-round.
Patio Covers for Pearland Homes
Pearland sun and sudden Gulf storms cut patio time short without cover. We build patio covers that tie into your roofline, with framing and anchorage detailed for a City of Pearland permit. That keeps your outdoor space usable in heat and rain.
Outdoor Kitchens for Pearland Backyards
An outdoor kitchen turns a Shadow Creek Ranch or east Pearland backyard into a real gathering spot. We build them with weather-rated cabinets and stone counters, plumbed and wired to your layout. It is built for long Gulf Coast grilling seasons.
Retaining Walls & Borders in Pearland
On flat, shifting clay, low retaining walls and solid borders hold grade and keep beds in place. We build segmental block and stone walls with proper drainage behind them so water does not push them out over time. They add structure and keep your yard tidy.
Why Landscaping Pays Off in Pearland, TX
In a fast-growing market like Pearland, a finished yard helps your home stand out and gives your family more usable space. The bigger win is protection. Good grading and drainage move water away from your slab on these flat clay lots, and that matters in an area where Clear Creek and its tributaries flood.
A yard that is built for Pearland's conditions also costs less to keep up. When sod is rooted in prepped soil, beds are edged and irrigated, and patios sit on a compacted base, you spend less time fighting washouts, dead grass, and cracked concrete. We design for the clay, the heat, and the rain from day one.
That is the real point. We are not chasing a quick flip. We build outdoor spaces that work, hold up to this climate, and make your Pearland property easier to live with and easier to sell when that day comes.

We recently hired Houston Landscape Images to install a few projects at our home: concrete driveway extension, cedar fence/gate replacement, subsurface drainage extension, exterior door added into brick wall. They did an outstanding job on all aspects of the project. Sanson was wonderful to work with, transparent on costs, and stayed in contact throughout the job. The crew was punctual, highly skilled and left the job site spotless each day. I would highly recommend Houston Landscape Images!

John G. - ★★★★★
Houston Landscape Images is a first-class, professional company. First start to finish everything was handled at a high standard. From images, we were given a choice of paver and retainer options. We asked about how to solve a water drainage problem, so also received an excellent solution. Work was done timely and the workmen were very experienced. The landscape looks even better than we expected. No problems of any sort.
Youqi W. - ★★★★★
Houston Landscape did not disappoint. I had them extend my existing patio and add a decorative overlay on top. It came out beautiful. The owner Sanson and his entire crew were very professional and efficient. They came when they said they would and finished the entire job on time. The owner Sanson showed his presence daily to ensure that the job was progressing as planned. He is very easy to communicate with and very responsive. I would recommend this company to everyone and I would definitely do business with them again.

Patricia S. - ★★★★★
I couldn’t be more pleased with the work done on my yard by Houston Landscape Images. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Sanson Faltine, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. He took the time to lay out a thoughtful design that worked beautifully with the existing trees and took into account how sun and shade would affect the space. In addition to the landscaping, Sanson also installed a sprinkler system. With many companies, sprinkler installations can lead to issues, but Sanson made sure mine was done with precision and worked flawlessly from the start. His attention to detail and the quality of his work are truly exceptional. He communicates clearly about how to care for the landscaping once the job is done and stands behind his work — something many don’t do these days. The results are something you’ll be proud of — a yard that not only looks beautiful but truly stands out above the rest. If you’re looking to invest in both beauty and quality for your outdoor space, Houston Landscape Images, led by Sanson Faltine, is the only way to go. Highly recommend!

Pearland Landscaping FAQ
Do I need a City of Pearland permit for a patio or patio cover?
Inside Pearland city limits, most projects like patios, patio covers, pergolas and irrigation systems need a permit from the City of Pearland. Parts of the Pearland area sit outside city limits in Brazoria, Harris or Fort Bend County, where different rules apply. Check the city's permit pages for current requirements. We confirm the jurisdiction for your address and include permits in the plan.
Does Shadow Creek Ranch need to approve my project?
Yes. The Shadow Creek Ranch Architectural Review Committee reviews modifications, improvements and additions, including landscaping, and asks for a copy of the city permit with the application. Other Pearland communities, like Silverlake and Southern Trails, have their own review steps. We prepare the drawings and material details, and we get the city permit first when your HOA needs it.
Can I build a patio or wall over a drainage easement in Pearland?
Usually not. Many Pearland lots have a recorded drainage or utility easement along a property line, and anything built there may have to come out if the easement is needed. We check your survey and plat before we design and keep patios, covers, walls and kitchens clear of easements. Plant beds and sod near an easement are often fine, but check your plat and HOA rules.
Do you plan irrigation with a new Pearland landscape?
Yes. New beds, sod and trees need water in the right places, so we design irrigation along with the landscape, with separate zones for lawn and beds. Inside city limits, irrigation work needs a City of Pearland permit, and Texas rules require backflow prevention on lawn irrigation systems connected to a public water supply. If you already have a system, we can often tie new zones into it.
