For more than 30 years, we have helped homeowners across the Houston area turn bare, soggy or tired yards into places they enjoy. Houston is hard on yards. Much of the area sits on heavy clay that holds water after a storm and cracks in a dry August, and summers are long, hot and humid. So we start with the ground. We check how water moves, where the sun hits, and what will still look good in five years. Then we choose plants, grass and materials that fit.
Our own crew does the work, from grading to the last shovel of mulch, on full residential landscapes and single fixes alike.

What is the best grass for a Houston yard?
Most Houston lawns do best with a warm-season grass. St. Augustine is a common choice because it handles heat, humidity and some shade. Zoysia is a good fit for yards that want a dense lawn and get moderate sun. Bermuda needs full sun and stands up well to heavy foot traffic, so it suits open, sunny yards. In deep shade, a planted bed or artificial turf may work better than any grass. We check sun and drainage before we recommend a sod type.
Can you fix standing water as part of a landscaping project?
Yes. Drainage is often the first thing we fix, because much of the Houston area sits on heavy clay that drains slowly after a storm. Water that sits by the slab or kills the lawn needs to go somewhere before new plants or sod go in. We use regrading, French drains, catch basins and downspout lines to move water to the street or another safe outlet. Then we build the new landscape on top of a yard that drains.
When is the best time to landscape in Houston?
You can landscape in Houston most of the year, but each job has a best season. Fall is a great time to plant trees and shrubs, because roots can grow through the mild winter before summer heat returns. Warm-season sod roots fastest from spring into summer, when the grass is actively growing. Drainage, turf and design work can happen almost any time of year.
