How much does landscape lighting cost in Houston?
Most of our landscape lighting jobs in the Houston area fall into three ranges. An entry-level system with 4 to 6 path lights or uplights and a low-voltage transformer runs about $1,500 to $3,000. A mid-range system with 8 to 15 fixtures for a front yard, patio or key features runs about $3,000 to $6,000. Full-property designs with 15 or more fixtures, zoning and architectural lighting start around $6,000. We give you an itemized estimate for fixtures, wiring and labor before any work starts.
What is low-voltage landscape lighting?
Most residential landscape lighting runs on low voltage, usually 12 volts. A transformer connects to your home's power and steps it down for the fixtures. Low-voltage systems are safer to work around in the yard, and fixtures are easy to move or add later as your plants grow. It is the type of system we install for path lights, uplights and garden lighting.
Are LED landscape lights worth it?
Yes, for most homes. LED fixtures use much less power than older halogen bulbs and last far longer, so you spend less on bulbs and electricity. LEDs also come in warm and cool color tones, which lets us match the light to your home and plants. If you have an older halogen system, we can upgrade it to LED.
Will outdoor lighting hold up to Houston rain and heat?
It will when it is built for it. We use weather-rated fixtures and bury the low-voltage wiring, and we plan around drainage so fixtures and connections do not sit in standing water. Houston gets heavy rain, and much of the area has clay soil that stays wet, so the layout and the connections matter. We also show you how to care for the system so it keeps working.
Can you add lighting to a patio cover, pergola or outdoor kitchen?
Yes. When we build a patio cover, pergola or outdoor kitchen, we can plan the lighting into it, like recessed lights in the ceiling, pendant lights over a bar or under-counter lighting. We can also add lighting to outdoor living spaces you already have. Planning lighting with the build is usually cleaner and easier than adding it later.
Can you repair or upgrade my existing landscape lighting?
Yes. We troubleshoot and repair low-voltage systems, including dead fixtures, damaged wires and transformer problems. We can also replace worn fixtures, adjust aim and spacing, and upgrade older bulbs to LED. If your current system no longer fits your yard, for example after new beds, a patio or trees that have grown, we can redesign the layout and reuse good parts where it makes sense.
Can I control my outdoor lights from my phone?
Yes. We can set up timers, photocells that turn lights on at dusk, motion sensors and smart controls you run from your phone. Many homeowners like to set lights to come on at sunset and shut off late at night. We set it up with you during the final walkthrough.
